Porterhouse Brewing Company was established in Ireland in 1989 with a
mission: To give discerning Irish punters a new drinking experience.
More than twenty years and 18.5 million pints served later, they have
achieved just that, becoming the largest independent brewing company in
Ireland. Ireland has a strong tradition of brewing. In the 19th century our
tiny island had more than 200 breweries serving a very thirsty nation.
The population stayed thirsty but the beer industry changed
dramatically. By the late 20th century, Irish drinkers were making do
with mass-produced beers that although were marketed as Irish but are in
reality owned by vast, multinational organizations.
By handcrafting their own beers in-house and to the highest quality
standards, Porterhouse started re-introducing the tradition of artisan
brewing to Ireland. Their beers, whiskeys and liqueurs are 100% Irish and
0% chemicals. And they don’t need sports tournaments named after them to
attract a loyal following.
