Vina Casa Marin is a family-owned winery located in the San Antonio appellation, only 4 kms. from the coast. It is currently Chile's closest vineyard to the Pacific Ocean.
It was founded in the year 2000 by Maria Luz Marin, winemaker and entrepreneur, whose goal of providing innovation to the local wine industry is being accomplished by her focus on premium wines which are a reality with the new 'terroir'.
It has been described as one of the 'most daring and innovative' vineyards in the country. Surrounded by the steep hills of the Chilean coastal mountains, the unique microclimate and wide variety of soils found here give birth to a 'terroir' recently discovered for the viticulture of fine wines. The first 25 hectares were planted with Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris, Gewurztraminer, and Riesling.
Chilean and British winemakers comprise a dedicated team who have contributed their know-how to the production of truly outstanding wines.
This single estate wine with 100% of the fruit coming from Lo Abarca Hills vineyard plantation, whiich is located on a gentle hillside slope that surrounds the town of Lo Abarca. The soil is mainly calcareous with a small percentage of clay and lime, and the vineyard has a western exposure facing the ocean. The climate is quite windy and affects grape productivity, which increases overall quality.
This is top notch stuff, which would knock the socks off of many a Burgundy at twice its price. Velvety and smooth with aromas and flavours of cherry and black raspberry balanced with the mineral ,gamey earthiness you get from great Pinot.Top drawer.
