The grapes were handpicked from a selection of the cooler vineyards in Leyda Valley. The combination of soil, sun exposure, climate, as well as ripeness of the grapes, provides a great diversity of components to the final blend and produces the distinctive characteristics of this Gran Reserva Sauvignon Blanc.
Leyda has earned a world-class reputation for outstanding Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc is a variety that requires soils with some clay composition to increase mouthfeel and good drainage to allow flavours to develop nicely. The 'Pacifico' vineyard, located in the coolest part of Leyda, is unique because of its soil texture and structure. The porous soil structure allows good drainage and aeration, and yet it also has the advantage of keeping good temperature for root formation.
The most elegant Sauvignon Blancs come from cool wine growing regions. The vineyard is located 14km away from the Pacific Ocean and it is right next to the estuary of the Maipo River, allowing cold winds coming down from the Andes to reach the vineyard at night.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Expressive and intense aromas of pink grapefruit, tomato leaf and flintstone with
mineral and citrus notes.
Palate: The wine has great volume and character and it is crisp and refreshing on the palate.
Enjoy this wine as an aperitif and with seafood of all kinds, particularly oysters, shrimp, and fish, as well as white meats and salads.
