| CAMPOS DE VIENTO TEMPRANILLO ABV 13%
Tempranillo is the classic variety of Spain, the key to all of the country’s top wines, Whether it be Ribera del Duero or Rioja. The central plain of Spain south of Madrid, La Mancha is planted mostly with white grapes, but in recent times more and more Tempranillo has been planted. On the north-eastern edge of this region, in the province of Cuenca, the altitude and the existence of many old Tempranillo vines contribute to create this wine. The name Campos de Viento refers to this ‘windy’ region. La Mancha is famous for its windmills, although in the heart of the region there are actually very few hills on which to place them! This wine is produced in the more hilly districts to the north-east, in the province of Cuenca and under the DO Uclés.
A blend of mostly old vine Tempranillo, but with a touch of wine from younger vines to enhance its aroma, has just been bottled. (Ferburary 2010)
The nose is typical of varietal Tempranillo, with a nose of fresh red fruits, like strawberries and subtle hints of fresh herbs. The palate is well-structured with soft tannins and of medium length.
